Mathis Altmann
born 1987 in Munich, DE
lives and works in Zurich, CH, Los Angeles, US, and Berlin, DE
Mathis Altmann’s installations and sculptures show a strong socio-critical awareness, and his skillful use of assemblage and collage portrays an intricately complex world. Using consumer goods, waste, everyday objects, and building materials, he creates scenarios that expose the illusion of a glamorous and carefree world and invites the audience to see beyond the surface. Altmann explores themes such as abundance, consumption, disposability, functionality, and superficiality, with a focus on creative digital work in a globalized and accelerated urban environment.
